The Purple Bird

To my absolute amazement, Will Oldham invited me to create the cover art for this new Bonnie Prince Billy record coming out on No Quarter Records on January 31st, 2025. This was a very enticing assignment not only because I am a long-time spirited fan of Will’s music and would never have imagined this reality could transpire, but also because my painting for this album cover was meant to be based on a piece of art made by legendary Nashville producer David “Ferg” Ferguson when he was a child. I happen to think that art made by kids is some of the greatest art there is so this was a very exciting place to begin. His 2nd grade school assignment was titled “The Purple Bird” and can be found in its original glory on the record sleeve insert as part of the magnificent layout designed by D. Norsen.
